The Canyon del Oro Dorados won the last time they faced the Rincon/University Rangers, and things went their way on Saturday too. Canyon del Oro snuck past Rincon/University with a 55-50 victory. The win made it back-to-back wins for Canyon del Oro.
Canyon del Oro's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brandon Watson led the charge by dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Mykael Nunez, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds.
Canyon del Oro is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. As for Rincon/University, they have fallen quite a ways from their 20-9 record last season and are now at 6-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Canyon del Oro and Pueblo will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 8th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Pueblo is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. Rincon/University will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Cholla at 7:00 p.m. on January 12th.
