Softball Recap: Westside Beats Pocahontas for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Westside waltzed into their game on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They put the hurt on the Pocahontas Redskins with a sharp 8-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won ten matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Mckyna Craig spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Mattyx Cureton was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Vada Watkins, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Westside's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Pocahontas, they moved to 5-5 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Westside will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Redskins: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
