The University Prep Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Arcata by a score of 50-48. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for University Prep in their matchups with Arcata: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the loss, University Prep still got an impressive performance from Scott Steffan, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Devin Huegel, who scored seven points.
University Prep now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Arcata, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
University Prep and Foothill will face off at 6:30 p.m. on December 21st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Foothill presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than University Prep in California (Foothill is ranked 287th, while University Prep is ranked 581st). Arcata will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Lincoln at 6:30 p.m. on December 27th.
