Catskill got a good showing from Lucas Paquette, who pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Paquette has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Catskill saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sawyer Bulich, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Cairo-Durham, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They skirted past Watervliet 5-4. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Cannoneers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Jake Young made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Young was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Michael Pernice and Kayden Higgins did most of the damage at the plate: Pernice went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI, while Higgins went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Cairo-Durham's record now sits at 7-4. As for Catskill, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Catskill has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Cairo-Durham struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Catskill came up short against Cairo-Durham in their previous matchup back in April, falling 7-2. Can the Cats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
