Basketball Recap: Live Oak Classical Piles Up the Points Against Faith Academy

Live Oak Classical came tearing into Saturday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Faith Academy Flames 58-27. The Falcons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 23 points or more this season.

Live Oak Classical was led to victory by Stella Sriram and Campbell Ogden. Sriram posted 12 points and four steals, while Ogden had 11 points and six steals. The dominant performance gave Ogden a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Addy McEachern, who put up eight points.

Live Oak Classical smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Despite the loss, Faith Academy still got an impressive performance from Natalie Weems, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 16 boards. Weems is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last six games she's played.

Live Oak Classical is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.1 points per game. As for Faith Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-18.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Live Oak Classical will head out to challenge Lutheran at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lutheran has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Faith Academy, they will venture away from home to face off against Central Texas Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Faith Academy is facing Central Texas Christian at the right time seeing as Central Texas Christian is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
