This season hasn't been kind to the Dupo Tigers, who are still winless after their fourth matchup. They took a 44-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mt. Olive. Dupo was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Mt. Olive apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Matthew Bywater was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a triple-double on 27 points, 11 rebounds, and nine steals for Mt. Olive. That makes it six consecutive games in which Bywater has scored at least 25% of Mt. Olive's points. Dexter Frizzo was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds.
Dupo's defeat was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-4. As for Mt. Olive, their victory bumped their record up to 2-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dupo won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Steeleville at 6:00 p.m. on December 13th. Steeleville presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Dupo in Illinois (Steeleville is ranked 285th, while Dupo is ranked 742nd). As for Mt. Olive, they will head out on the road to face off against North Greene at 7:30 p.m. on December 21st.
