The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Valley in their matchups with Atrisco Heritage Academy: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite the loss, Valley still got an impressive performance from Julian Chavez, who scored 24 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Chavez hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Diego Miscles-Rivera, who scored six points.
Atrisco Heritage Academy was led to victory by Latavious Morris and Marquise Renfro. Morris scored 22 points along with five assists, while Renfro scored 28 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Renfro has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kadarius Sims, who scored eight points.
Valley's loss dropped their record down to 12-4. As for Atrisco Heritage Academy, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-4.
Valley won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Cottonwood Classical Prep at 2:00 p.m. on January 20th. The timing isn't great for Cottonwood Classical Prep: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Valley has snatched up five consecutive wins on the road.
