Goochland is a perfect 4-0 against Albemarle since April of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will square off against the Patriots at 6:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Goochland took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. Everything went their way against Charlottesville as they made off with a 17-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won four contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Avery Newman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Goochland got a massive performance out of Sadie Grimes, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. What's more, Grimes posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. Kaylee Markey was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Goochland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Charlottesville only posted an OBP of .273.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Albemarle). They were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over Chancellor on Monday. The Patriots not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 16, 2024.
Mela Gibson was a standout: she went 1-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That hit marked the first that she got this season. Another player making a difference was Sam Armstrong, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Albemarle's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Goochland, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.
Albemarle's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Goochland hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .329. It's a different story for Albemarle, though, as they've only averaged .233. Will they be able to contain Goochland's hitters?
Goochland took their win against Albemarle in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 12-1 score. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Patriots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
