Baseball Recap: Chatham Charter Victorious

Chatham Charter won the last time they faced Southern Wake Academy and things went their way on Thursday too. The Chatham Charter Knights never let the Southern Wake Academy Lions get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. Considering the Knights have won three games by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Zach Cartrette was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time he hasn't allowed a single hit since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Tyner Williams and Brandon Rives did most of the damage at the plate: Williams scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Rives scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1. Those three hits gave Williams a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Westin Phillips, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Chatham Charter kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 12 hits in three consecutive contests.

Chatham Charter now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Southern Wake Academy, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Chatham Charter has already played their next match, a 6-1 defeat against South Stanly on the 14th. As for Southern Wake Academy, they will venture away from home to face off against Lee Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Southern Wake Academy is facing Lee Christian at the right time seeing as Lee Christian is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
