The Southwest Georgia Academy Warriors suffered their biggest defeat since November 21, 2023 on Saturday. They were the victim of a tough 64-44 defeat at the hands of Brentwood. While losing is never fun, Southwest Georgia Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while Brentwood is ranked 79th).
Southwest Georgia Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ella Ashley, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Carmen Scott, who scored eight points.
Southwest Georgia Academy's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 7-8. As for Brentwood, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 13-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southwest Georgia Academy will face off against Grace Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Grace Christian Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Brentwood will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Thomas Jefferson Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 22nd. Thomas Jefferson Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
