The Springfield Blue Devils lost against the Clay Eagles back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Springfield lost to the Eagles on the road by a decisive 57-42 margin. While losing is never fun, Springfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 504th, while the Eagles are ranked 122nd).
Despite the loss, Springfield still got an impressive performance from Nate Pope, who scored ten points along with three blocks and two steals. Another player making a difference was Aaron Adams, who scored eight points.
This is the second loss in a row for Springfield and nudges their season record down to 3-11. As for Clay, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Springfield's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Wildcats at 7:15 p.m. on February 2nd. Northview is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. As for Clay, they will head out on the road to challenge the Generals at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
