Football Recap: Sandy Creek Takes Down Wisner-Pilger in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Sandy Creek rose to the challenge on Friday. They breezed past the Wisner-Pilger Gators to the tune of 51-6. Considering the Cougars have won nine contests by more than 22 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sandy Creek to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kam Sealey, who threw for 211 yards and five touchdowns on perfect 14-for-14 passing, and also rushed for 67 yards and one score. What's more, Sealey racked up 177.1 passer rating, the most he's had since back in October of 2024. Kaeden Schmidt was another key player, gaining 75 total yards and three touchdowns.

Sandy Creek's run defense was locked in: Wisner-Pilger could only muster 3.2 yards per carry. While five picked up at least two total tackles, Sealey stood above the rest. He threw for 211 yards and five TDs on perfect 14-for-14 passing, and also rushed for 67 yards and one touchdown. Sandy Creek didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 5.7.

Sandy Creek's defense didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Wes Biltoft, Sam Watts, and Josh Spray, who each picked up one sack apiece.

The win (which was Sandy Creek's eighth in a row) raised their record to 9-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 12.8 points on average over those games. As for Wisner-Pilger, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.

Looking ahead, Sandy Creek will face off against Bridgeport at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars will need to watch out since the Bulldogs have now posted at least 31 points in their last three matchups. Wisner-Pilger does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
