The Mapletown Maples's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their ninth straight loss. They fell just short of West Greene by a score of 47-44. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Mapletown in their matchups with West Greene: they've now lost three in a row.
West Greene's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Parker Burns, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds. Burns is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Lane Allison, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Mapletown has not been sharp recently as the team has lost 12 of their last 13 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-17 record this season. As for West Greene, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-7.
Mapletown does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for West Greene, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 40-29 victory vs. Bentworth on the 12th.
