Indianapolis Northwest W is headed into Saturday's match hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight losses. They took a 52-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of HEA Firebirds HomeSchool last Saturday.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Taylor Smith, who posted 11 points and four steals. Josh Bowers was another key player, putting up eight points along with six boards and three blocks.
Meanwhile, Northside L didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Anderson HomeSchool on Friday, but they still walked away with a 50-45 win. The team ran away with 36 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those to pick up the victory.
Northside L found their leader in sophomore ETHAN RODECKER, who went 9 of 17 on his way to 25 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which RODECKER has scored at least a third of Northside L's points. The team also got some help courtesy of ISAAC ADCOCK, who had eight points and five rebounds.
Northside L smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 15 consecutive games.
Indianapolis Northwest W's defeat dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Northside L, the win got them back to even at 11-11.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Indianapolis Northwest W has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Northside L struggles in that department as they've been averaging 34.7 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
