It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Concord Christian Academy Minutemen ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They skirted past Calvary Christian Academy 37-34. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Concord Christian Academy has scored all year.
Concord Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gabriel Franco, who scored 17 points along with two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Franco has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Keavon Bailey - Homeschool, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 15 rebounds.
Despite the loss, Calvary Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: Kyle Parks scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Parks also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of JR Gillespie (HS), who scored seven points along with five rebounds and three steals.
The victory made it two in a row for Concord Christian Academy and bumps their season record up to 7-3. As for Calvary Christian Academy, they are on a 13-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-17.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Concord Christian Academy will square off against Chestertown Christian Academy at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Calvary Christian Academy, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Holly Grove Christian at 6:30 p.m. on February 9th. Calvary Christian Academy is coming into the contest with ten straight defeats on the road, meaning Holly Grove Christian will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory.
