Elko has gone 8-2 against Dayton recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Indians will take on the Dust Devils at 3:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Elko comes in on three and Dayton on eight.
On Saturday, Elko got the win against Truckee by a conclusive 19-3. Considering the Indians have won seven games by more than 11 runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Taylor Hunton made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Hunton was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with six RBI, two stolen bases, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2025.

In other batting news, Lauren Carnicle was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two doubles. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Vanessa Romero was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Elko kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.
While Dayton didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against Debbie Smith CTE Academy by a score of 6-1 on Saturday. Those six runs were actually the fewest the Dust Devils have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.
Donnita Wass spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Marissa Flores De Los Santos, who went 2-for-3 with four stolen bases and two runs. Flores De Los Santos is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least three every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Sofia Ramirez, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Elko's record is now 9-4. As for Dayton, their record now sits at 8-0.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Elko hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .466. However, it's not like Dayton struggles in that department as they've averaged .551. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Elko skirted past Dayton 7-6 when the teams last played back in April of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
