Muskogee has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Stillwater Pioneers at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Muskogee extended their postseason success on Friday against Deer Creek. They slipped by the Antlers 36-35.
It was another big night for Jamarian Ficklin, who rushed for 194 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.8 yards per carry, and also threw for 250 yards and a touchdown on only 16 passes. Ficklin was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 53 yards. Muskogee also got help from Kayden Mcgee who showed off his sure hands for 104 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Stillwater faced Choctaw in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Stillwater snuck past Choctaw with a 33-29 win on Friday. The victory was nothing new for Stillwater as they're now sitting on ten straight.
Stillwater got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Holden Thompson out in front who rushed for 135 yards and a touchdown. Thompson is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Chance Acord, who threw for 135 yards and two touchdowns.
Muskogee has yet to lose a game at home this season, leaving them with a 10-2 record. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.2 points per game. As for Stillwater, their victory bumped their record up to 10-2.
We should be in store for an exciting game Friday as Muskogee and Stillwater have no problem gaining yardage. Muskogee has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 484.6 total yards per game. However, it's not like Stillwater struggles in that department as they've been averaging 452.5 per game.
