Baseball Recap: Central Cambria Wins Going Away Against Westmont Hilltop

Central Cambria won against Richland on Tuesday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. Everything went the Red Devils' way against the Westmont Hilltop Hilltoppers as they made off with a 10-4 win. Considering the Red Devils have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Logan Black was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, Mason Pittsinger was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Grady Snyder, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Central Cambria was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Westmont Hilltop only posted a batting average of .207.

The victory made it two in a row for Central Cambria and bumps their season record up to 12-5. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Westmont Hilltop, they dropped their record down to 8-9 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.

Central Cambria wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 6-4 loss against Philipsburg-Osceola on the 8th. As for Westmont Hilltop, they have also already played their next game, a 12-2 defeat against Forest Hills on the 9th.
