Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wright City). They took their contest on Friday with ease, bagging a 55-26 victory over the Van-Far Indians. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won four games by 21 points or more so far this season.
Dayton Humphreys had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 301 yards and five touchdowns while completing 84.2% of his passes, and also rushing for 94 yards on only 13 carries. Kaveon Schulte did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 101 receiving yards.
Wright City didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Terrence Love and Ben Gomez. Gomez is also on a roll when it comes to defended passes, as he's now defended at least one in each of the last six games he's played. Love got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Loss or not, Van-Far got some senior leadership from Ty Evans and Kasen Christian. Evans rushed for 92 yards and one score on only nine carries, while Christian rushed for 27 yards and a pair of TDs.
Wright City pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 36.7 points over those games. As for Van-Far, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.
