Providence Academy and New Life Academy are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2015, but likely not for long. The Lions will venture away from home to challenge the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Providence Academy comes in on 13 and New Life Academy on four.
Providence Academy's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They put the hurt on Brooklyn Center with a sharp 12-0 win. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.
Providence Academy got a big performance out of Joe Berghult, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Corbett, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Providence Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in six consecutive games.
Meanwhile, New Life Academy got the win against Nova Classical Academy on Monday by a conclusive 18-10. The Eagles are also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the sixth matchup they've won by 6+ runs this season.
Noah Hahn was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted over his last ten contests. Nate Duval was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Providence Academy pushed their record up to 13-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for New Life Academy, their record is now 12-3.
Wednesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Providence Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .504. However, it's not like New Life Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .481. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Providence Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against New Life Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2023, sneaking past 4-2. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
