The Antelope Titans will challenge the West Park Panthers at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Antelope put up the most points they have all season on Friday. Everything went their way against McClatchy as they made off with a 32-10 win.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Antelope to victory, but perhaps none more so than David Yakubovskiy, who rushed for 64 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. Philip Goudeaux III was another key back, gaining 110 total yards and a touchdown.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Antelope was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 235 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when West Park duked it out with Destiny Christian Academy on Friday. The Panthers enjoyed a cozy 38-20 victory over the Lions. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.
Antelope better keep an eye on Declan Shindelbower. He was instrumental in West Park's win, rushing for 102 yards and a pair of TDs on only 12 carries. Shindelbower also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because the Panthers are 2-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise. Another big playmaker for West Park was Tanner McSweeney, who returned a punt for a touchdown.
West Park didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of McSweeney and Gavin McDaniel. McSweeney got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Special teams played a big role in the game for West Park, adding 14 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of McSweeney, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Antelope's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for West Park, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Antelope suffered a grim 35-10 defeat to West Park when the teams last played back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Panthers' Jaden Jackson, who threw for 163 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 42 yards.
