This season hasn't been kind to the Reed Raiders, who are still winless after their ninth game. They were beaten by Fernley 73-42 on Thursday. Reed was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-18.
Amanda Narcise and Chevelle Roque certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Narcise scored 17 points, while Roque scored 16 points. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for her.
Fernley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jasmyne Torres led the charge by scoring 17 points along with seven steals and six assists. Those seven steals set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaelece Wasson, who scored 17 points along with three steals.
Reed's loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Fernley, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 14-0.
Reed and Carson will face off at 5:15 p.m. on January 4th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Carson is ranked 59th, while Reed is ranked 69th). Fernley is on the road again on Thursday and play against Wooster at 9:30 a.m. on December 28, 2023. Wooster is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.
