Durham Academy has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Ravenscroft Ravens at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Durham Academy didn't have too much trouble with North Raleigh Christian Academy at home as they won 65-47.
Durham Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Joshua Dorsette II led the charge by scoring 12 points along with six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of PJ Jeffries, who scored 11 points.
Meanwhile, Ravenscroft came tearing into Friday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Cary Academy and snuck past 58-56. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Durham Academy's victory bumped their record up to 13-10. As for Ravenscroft, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season.
Durham Academy suffered a grim 68-42 defeat to Ravenscroft in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can Durham Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
