The Seven Lakes Spartans will face off against the Mayde Creek Rams at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
On Tuesday, Seven Lakes needed a bit of extra time to put away Paetow. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Panthers, sneaking past 4-3. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Spartans as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Seven Lakes got a great performance from Ryma Chakraborty as she pitched 7.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Dulce Franco, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Petree, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Mayde Creek hadn't done well against Cinco Ranch recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Rams sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-11 victory over the Cougars. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Rams.
Shy'Lynn Brown was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over nine innings while giving up just two earned (and nine unearned) runs off nine hits. Brown was also big at the plate, going 4-for-6 with four RBI and two doubles. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Mayde Creek let Julissa Aquino and Eva Tyler run wild. Aquino scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Tyler scored three runs while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances. What's more, Aquino posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in February. Aneesa Ocanas was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5.
Mayde Creek kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Seven Lakes' win bumped their record up to 6-10. As for Mayde Creek, their victory bumped their record up to 12-9.
