Montgomery is 2-7 against St. Mary since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Montgomery Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the St. Mary Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Montgomery will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Louisiana Rankings (they are ranked 253rd, while St. Mary is ranked 122nd).
Montgomery had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They walked away with a 19-12 win over LaSalle.
Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, St. Mary's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They received a tough blow as they fell 40-21 to Peabody.
Loss or not, St. Mary got some senior leadership from Ethan Busby who picked up 137 receiving yards and two touchdowns and Mixon Bankston who threw for 172 yards and two touchdowns. Busby was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 65 yards.
Montgomery's victory bumped their season record to 4-3 while St. Mary's defeat dropped theirs to 5-1.
Montgomery was dealt a bruising 62-0 loss at the hands of St. Mary when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Will Montgomery have more luck at home instead of on the road?
