Berne Union is 0-3 against Ridgedale since April of 2017 but things could change on Wednesday. Berne Union will be taking part in a tournament against Ridgedale at 5:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Berne Union had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Delaware Christian on Monday. The Rockets were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over the Eagles. The Rockets haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Reese Besco made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Josilyn Hedges, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 11 contests. Another player making a difference was Rylee North, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Berne Union kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 8-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Ridgedale made easy work of Elgin on Monday and carried off a 10-1 victory.
Like Berne Union, Ridgedale also got a great game from a two-way player: Kenzie Delaney. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. Delaney was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Jillian Slaughterbeck was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Alexis Burton was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.
Ridgedale has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Berne Union, their victory bumped their record up to 14-10.
Wednesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Berne Union hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .355. However, it's not like Ridgedale struggles in that department as they've averaged .319. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Berne Union might still be hurting after the 12-2 loss they got from Ridgedale when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can Berne Union avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
