Softball Recap: Thomas Sumter Academy Triumphs

Thomas Sumter Academy's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. Everything went their way against the Lee Academy Cavaliers as the Thomas Sumter Academy Generals made off with a 20-7 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Generals also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Thomas Sumter Academy let Lila Kate Stines and Kason Carter run wild. Stines scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances, while Carter scored three runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. That's the most runs Carter has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Hannah Giddings, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Thomas Sumter Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .744. Their OBP was a full 0 higher than the also-impressive .519 that Lee Academy posted.

Thomas Sumter Academy's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Lee Academy, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coincidentally, Thomas Sumter Academy and Lee Academy will both be playing Williamsburg Academy the next time they take the field. Thomas Sumter Academy will host Williamsburg Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, while Lee Academy will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on March 18th.
