The Morrow Mustangs were the 64-40 winner over the Alcovy Tigers when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Morrow fell 55-47 to Alcovy on Friday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Morrow came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while Alcovy is ranked 265th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Alcovy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kendall Banks, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. Banks has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last three times she's played. Minah Little was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
Morrow has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-4 record this season. As for Alcovy, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-7.
Morrow will head out on the road to challenge Mundy's Mill at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Joshlynn Mcclarin and Mikayla Dunston. As for Alcovy, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Jonesboro at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd.
