The Highland Rams entered their tilt with the Thunder Ridge Titans with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Highland came out on top against Thunder Ridge by a score of 29-21 on Friday. Given Highland's advantage in MaxPreps' Idaho football rankings (they are ranked fifth, while Thunder Ridge is ranked 41st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Highland was led to victory by Jackson Riddle and Rhidge Barela. Riddle picked up 107 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while Barela rushed for 80 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries. Barela was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 59 yards.
Despite the loss, Thunder Ridge had strong showings from Kody Robinson, who picked up 182 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and Ryder Portmann, who threw for 330 yards and three touchdowns while completing 71.9% of his passes.
Highland's victory was their fifth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 8-1. As for Thunder Ridge, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-8.
Highland will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Owyhee at 8:15 p.m. on November 3rd. Owyhee will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. Thunder Ridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
