Cassidy Perry made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she posted three strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April. She was even better at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Manchester got a big performance out of Chloe White, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Saige Rankin, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Tuslaw came out on top against Canton Central Catholic on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run first inning. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Crusaders.
Gabby McGowen spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on 12 hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kailey Valentine, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in four or more in each of the last three games she's played. Hadley Porter was another key player, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, one run, and one double.
Tuslaw kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 13 hits in three consecutive matchups.
Manchester's win bumped their record up to 19-4. As for Tuslaw, their victory bumped their record up to 20-5.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Manchester hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .379. However, it's not like Tuslaw struggles in that department as they've averaged .378. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Manchester couldn't quite finish off Tuslaw in their previous matchup back in April and fell 7-5. Can the Panthers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
