The Southern Rams scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They snuck past Parkside with a 69-63 win. The win was all the more spectacular given Southern's disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 136th in Maryland, while Parkside is ranked 16th in District of Columbia).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Southern to victory, but perhaps none more so than Noah Wilt, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds. That's the first time this season that Wilt scored 15 or more points. Jared Haskiell was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six steals.
Parkside lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Markeese Coles, who scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Kasson James, who scored 16 points.
The win makes it two in a row for Southern and bumps their season record up to 6-4. As for Parkside, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-7.
Southern will head out on the road to take on Fort Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Parkside, they will be playing in front of their home fans against School Without Walls at 12:30 p.m. on Monday.
