Holtville is 0-1 against Demopolis since October of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Holtville Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Demopolis Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Holtville had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.8 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. Everything went their way against Marbury as Holtville made off with a 46-20 win. Holtville pushed the score to 40-12 by the end of the third, a deficit Marbury cut but never quite recovered from.
Erik Atkins and Keiland Baker were among the main playmakers for Holtville as the former gained 104 total yards and three touchdowns and the latter rushed for 65 yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Demopolis humbled Jemison with a 48-14 victory. Given Demopolis' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 113th, while Jemison is ranked 286th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Their wins bumped Holtville to 6-1 and Demopolis to 5-2.
Holtville was dealt a bruising 60-14 loss at the hands of Demopolis in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Thankfully for Holtville, Kelvin Rowser (who rushed for 115 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
