Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Arkansas). They blew past the Clarksville Panthers 26-2 on Tuesday. Considering the Razorbacks' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
Jackson Arnold and Eli Wall made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Arnold pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Meanwhile, Wall tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, Arnold went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one RBI, while Wall went 3-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles.
In other pitching news, Cutter Lishman looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, C.J. Cleveland and Mavrick Adcock did most of the damage at the plate: Cleveland went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Adcock got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Quinton Thurston was another key player, going 1-for-3 with four RBI and two runs.
Arkansas always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Arkansas' first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Clarksville, their defeat was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-1.
Coming up, Arkansas will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against El Dorado at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Razorbacks surely won't give up without a fight. As for Clarksville, they will challenge Dover at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
