Basketball Recap: Avery White's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Edgewood Academy over Restoration Academy

Edgewood Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost to Restoration Academy on the road by a 62-43 margin. The Wildcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced Restoration Academy earlier this season, when they won 67-54.

Edgewood Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Avery White, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 18 rebounds. That's the most points White has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Newton, who posted 13 points.

Restoration Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Leah Thomas, who put up 26 points. Another player making a difference was Sarah Williams-Scott, who scored 18 points.

Edgewood Academy's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 13-9. As for Restoration Academy, they pushed their record up to 8-12 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Edgewood Academy has already played their next game (against Bessemer Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Restoration Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 57-3 win against Banks Academy on the 27th.
