After flying high against the Rosa Fort Lions on Saturday, the Southaven Chargers came back down to earth. Southaven's tough 53-32 defeat to Lewisburg on Tuesday might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Southaven can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 174th, while Lewisburg is ranked 36th).
Lewisburg got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Allie Carroll out in front who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Izzy Goss, who scored 11 points.
Southaven's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Lewisburg, they pushed their record up to 15-6 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southaven's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Hernando at 6:00 p.m. on January 12th. Hernando has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Lewisburg, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Oxford at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
