Last Tuesday, Chattanooga Prep blew past the Eagles, posting a 71-36 victory on the road. Given Chattanooga Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 106th, while the Eagles are ranked 362nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Chattanooga Prep's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Derrick Roberson, who scored 14 points along with two steals. Roberson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Ta'Suade Williams was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Meanwhile, Lookout Valley's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 12th straight defeat. Their tough 66-41 defeat to Copper Basin might stick with them for a while. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lookout Valley in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now lost nine in a row.
Chattanooga Prep is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. As for Lookout Valley, they dropped their record down to 1-18 with that defeat, which was their 22nd straight on the road dating back to last season.
Everything came up roses for Chattanooga Prep against the Yellowjackets in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 102-33 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Chattanooga Prep since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
