Floyd Central is 0-1 against Evansville North since October of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on October 27th. After each having a week off, the pair will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 7:30 p.m. on October 27th. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Floyd Central had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.3 points), and they went ahead and made it eight on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 47-0 victory over New Albany on the road. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Floyd Central just coasted through the last quarter.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Floyd Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mitch Bernardi, who rushed for 159 yards and three touchdowns on only 15 carries. Bernardi is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Tristan Robertson, who rushed for 79 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries.
Meanwhile, Evansville North got themselves on the board against Evansville Central on Friday, but Evansville Central never followed suit. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 72-0 win over the Bears. Given Evansville North's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana football rankings (they are ranked 39th, while Evansville Central is ranked 215th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Evansville North haved a senior duo take command as Sam Mckinney threw for 177 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 passes and Cainen Northington gained 57 total yards and three touchdowns. Kaleb Harris was in the mix as well, providing Evansville North with two touchdowns.
Floyd Central's victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-1. They've been dominating across those games too: they took their wins by an average of 36 points. Evansville North has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of October 27th's contest: Floyd Central has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 206.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Evansville North struggles in that department as they've been even better at 206.4 per game. It's looking like October 27th's game might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Floyd Central lost to Evansville North at home by a decisive 24-7 margin in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Thankfully for Floyd Central, Angelo St Louis (who rushed for 156 yards and two touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
