The Mt. Pleasant Tigers pushed their score all the way to 59 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Marshall 65-59. That's two games in a row now that Mt. Pleasant has lost by exactly six points.
Jakairi Blacknell was her usual excellent self, scoring 29 points along with three steals for Marshall. Those 29 points set a new season-high mark for Blacknell. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Helton, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds.
Mt. Pleasant's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-11. As for Marshall, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-11.
Mt. Pleasant will be home for the holidays to greet Tyler at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Tyler presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Mt. Pleasant in Texas (Tyler is ranked 408th, while Mt. Pleasant is ranked 821st). As for Marshall, they will head out on the road to face off against Whitehouse at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
