The Box Elder Bees will square off against the Bonneville Lakers at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Box Elder is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
On Tuesday, Box Elder got the win against Northridge by a conclusive 22-2. Considering the Bees have won 17 contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Kennadie Blackmer was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Box Elder let Lucy Griffin and Kailee Hall run wild. Griffin went a perfect 5-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base, while Hall got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and five runs. That's the most RBI Griffin has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Richards, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Box Elder kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive games.
Clearfield hit Bonneville with a seven-run sixth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Lakers took a 12-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Falcons. The Lakers haven't had much luck with the Falcons recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Ellee Summers made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Samantha Mills was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Box Elder pushed their record up to 22-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Bonneville, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-14.
Box Elder took their victory against Bonneville in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 12-2 score. Will the Bees repeat their success, or do the Lakers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
