Nottoway has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. The Nottoway Cougars and the Lunenburg Central Chargers will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Nottoway focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Tuesday.
Nottoway's 16-5 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a 65-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Buckingham.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Anton Carter Jr., who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. He hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for nine straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jahmarion Wright, who scored 15 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Lunenburg Central had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They took down Goochland 68-50 on Wednesday. Lunenburg Central's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Nottoway's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Lunenburg Central, their win bumped their record up to an identical 3-9.
Nottoway beat Lunenburg Central 48-41 when the teams last played on January 3rd. The rematch might be a little tougher for Nottoway since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
