The Goldsboro Cougars typically have all the answers at home, but on Tuesday the Eastern Wayne Warriors proved too difficult a challenge. They managed a 40-35 win over the Cougars. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Eastern Wayne also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Goldsboro lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Aziyah Boyer, who scored ten points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Des'Myah Croom, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Eastern Wayne's win bumped their record up to 16-2. As for Goldsboro, their defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 16-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eastern Wayne will challenge the Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Princeton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 493rd, while the Warriors are ranked 74th). As for Goldsboro, they will head out on the road to face off against the Bruins at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Beddingfield will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
