The Honaker Tigers put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They snuck past Rural Retreat with a 40-34 win. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Honaker's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aidan Lowe led the charge by rushing for 104 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries. Parker Bandy also helped out with an impressive 131 receiving yards.
Despite the loss, Rural Retreat still got an impressive performance from Caleb Roberts, who threw for 214 yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. Another player making a difference was Austin Umberger, who picked up 76 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Honaker's win was their fifth straight on the road , which pushed their record up to 10-0. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 9-1 Rye Cove and 8-2 Narrows (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 64% over those games). As for Rural Retreat, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-5.
