Softball Recap: Hillcrest Extends Winning Streak to Three

While Hillcrest put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Jordan. The Huskies put the hurt on the Beetdiggers with a sharp 12-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Huskies, who have now won five games by six runs or more so far this season.

Abigail Hitchcock made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Lila Vawdrey was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. She also launched a home run, marking her first of the season. Bailey Terry was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases.

The victory (which was Hillcrest's third in a row) raised their record to 6-8. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Jordan, their defeat was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-12.

Coming up, Hillcrest will face off against Park City at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Huskies' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Miners have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season. As for Jordan, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Tooele at 3:30 p.m. on the 14th.
