Basketball Recap: Cottonwood Skates Past Park City with Ease

A well-balanced attack led Cottonwood over Park City in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Cottonwood Colts blew the Park City Miners out of the water with a 52-25 final score. The Colts have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Taylor Workman continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, putting up 17 points in addition to six assists and six boards. Those 17 points gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Avea Van Der Beek, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds.

Cottonwood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in seven consecutive games.

Park City's loss came despite strong showings from Dylan Radziukinas and Mallory Carter. Radziukinas posted nine points and six boards, while Carter had three points and five steals. Radziukinas continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Cottonwood's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.7 points per game. As for Park City, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.

Cottonwood didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 41-38 loss against Jordan on the 23rd. As for Park City, they will challenge Tooele at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Tooele has six straight victories, Park City has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
