Basketball Recap: Commerce Snags Fifth Victory in Last Six Games

Providence Christian Academy came into Friday's game looking for another win against Commerce, but Essien Lockleer wouldn't allow it. The Commerce Tigers came out on top against the Providence Christian Academy Storm by a score of 56-45 on Friday thanks in part to Lockleer, who went 8 of 12 on his way to 21 points along with five boards and three steals. He has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played.

The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Jarrells, who posted six points. He is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for four straight games.

Commerce has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points per game. As for Providence Christian Academy, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 12-1.

Commerce will take on Jefferson in a tournament on Friday. Commerce has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 183 points over their last three contests. As for Providence Christian Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-46 defeat against Whitefield Academy on the 21st.
