Mason Markovich Earns League's Top Spot
Starting off the list is Glenwood Springs's Mason Markovich, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Markovich produced his best game of the campaign on Friday: he made ten total tackles (4.0 for loss). He showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 56 yards.
Glenwood Springs pushed their record up to 4-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Markovich and Glenwood Springs will play host again on Thursday to welcome Eagle Valley, where kickoff is scheduled at 7:00 p.m.

Palisade was led to victory by Easton Embrey, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Thursday. Embrey rushed for 123 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 72 yards.
Palisade has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. Embrey and Palisade will be playing in front of their home fans against Rifle at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Kaleb Reed posted a new career-high in rushing yards on Thursday. He rushed for 44 yards and a touchdown.

Jerick Sorensen produced his most outstanding game to date while leading Glenwood Springs to the win on Friday. On Thursday, Palisade got the W thanks in part to Branson Springer playing the best football he has all season. Springer threw for 77 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground.
On the year, Springer has thrown 4 touchdowns while averaging 53.2 passing yards per game. That doesn't tell the whole story though: at this point last year, he was only averaging 3.13 passer rating per game. This year he is averaging 87.7 passer rating.
