The Richfield Wildcats's four-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They walked away with a 61-49 victory over South Sevier. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 12 to 5 on the offensive boards, as Richfield did.
Richfield's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Malik Fautin, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds. Those ten points set a new season-high mark for Fautin. Miles Barnett was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five rebounds.
South Sevier's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brace Brindley, who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Stockton Roberts, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds.
The win got Richfield back to even at 4-4. As for South Sevier, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Richfield will be home for the holidays to greet Canyon View at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. South Sevier will take on Kanab at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Kanab knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully South Sevier likes a good challenge.
