Even though the Wayne County Yellow Jackets scored an imposing 58 points on Tuesday, the Burke County Bears still came out on top. Burke County enjoyed a cozy 76-58 win over Wayne County. Given Burke County's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 144th, while Wayne County is ranked 427th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bryce Wimberly continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 29 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of La'Quinton Morgan, who scored 14 points along with seven assists.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Burke County's road trip will continue as they head out to face Benedictine at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. Benedictine knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Burke County likes a good challenge. As for Wayne County, they will head out on the road to challenge New Hampstead at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in New Hampstead's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while Wayne County has been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road.
