Franklin County extended their winning streak to three on Friday, bumping their season record up to 10-5 in the process. They blew past Great Crossing 14-7. The result was nothing new for the Flyers, who have now won eight games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Madison McCoy made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Franklin County got a massive performance out of Emma Olds, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Avery Lofton, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
Franklin County lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs in three consecutive matches.
As for Great Crossing, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat they have suffered since March 23, 2024.
On Great Crossing's side, Ashtyn Holbrook was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Dakota Mullins also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Looking ahead, Franklin County will be playing in front of their home fans against Holy Cross at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Great Crossing, they will head out to face off against Madison Southern at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
