Madison is 0-7 against Floyd Central since April of 2016 but things could change on Monday. The Cubs will head out on the road to take on the Highlanders at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Thursday, Madison made easy work of Southwestern and carried off a 19-9 win. The Cubs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.

Emily Laufer made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.
In other batting news, Kylie Montgomery was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Rachel Couch also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Madison was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .480. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southwestern only posted a batting average of .261.
Meanwhile, Floyd Central entered their tilt with Ballard on Wednesday with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. They came out on top against the Bruins by a score of 7-3.
Like Madison, Floyd Central also got a great game from a two-way player: Adeline Shultz. She struck out eight batters over 4.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off only one hit. Shultz was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Elise Coleman, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Addy Ware, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Madison's record is now 9-7. As for Floyd Central, their record now sits at 19-6.
Madison suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Floyd Central in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Can the Cubs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
